You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers.
How do I choose the right size?
Our knitwear comes in three sizes:
- Size 1 (XS/S)
- Size 2 (M/L)
- Size 3 (L/XL)
Wool has a natural stretch and give, but if you’re unsure, feel free to reach out via email or leave a note with your measurements at checkout. I’ll make sure you’ve chosen the right size before I start knitting. The cost of a return is on you, so let’s get it right from the start.
Can I request a custom fit?
Absolutely. If you love the design but want longer arms or a different body length, reach out and I’ll let you know if I can tailor the fit to suit you.
How long does it take you to make my order before shipping it?
I begin crafting your knitwear after purchase, and aim to ship it within 7 days. If there’s ever a delay, I’ll reach out personally to keep you informed.
How much is shipping and how long will it take?
Shipping is free across Canada and the U.S.
- Estimated delivery times:
- Canada: 3–7 business days
- U.S.: 7–14 business days
Orders are shipped using Canada Post, Purolator, or UPS. Once your order is on its way, I’ll send you tracking details so you can follow its journey.
Will I be charged duties when ordering from the U.S.?
- No, because our knitwear is made entirely in Canada from Canadian-grown wool, it qualifies as CUSMA-exempt under the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement. This means I include a CUSMA Certification of Origin with every U.S. order, so you won’t be charged duties at delivery.
- You may still owe local state sales tax, depending on where you live. Very occasionally, border agents miss the paperwork and duties are added by mistake. If that happens, your duties receipt should explain how to request a refund.
- Update - September 22nd, 2025: Due to recent changes at the border and a lot of inconsistency in how duties are being applied - even on certified CUSMA-exempt goods - I’ve decided to personally manage shipping to the U.S. for now. My brother lives in Denver and visits regularly, so I’ll be sending your package with him to avoid surprise costs or delays. This might mean a bit longer shipping time than usual, but I want to ensure your knitwear arrives without extra fees or confusion. This is temporary. If you ever want to check in on timing, feel free to send me a message.
Can I return or exchange an item?
- Yes, as long as you request it within 5 days of receiving your item. Please see our full Returns Policy for details. Return shipping costs are deducted from your refund unless the item is defective or we’ve agreed otherwise.
- We do not accept returns for items that have been tailored specifically for you.
- Email me at jill@martylynn.com with any questions, I’m here to help.
How should I care for my wool garment?
Your knitwear is made from 100% undyed Canadian wool.
- Refresh by hanging in the sun or letting it air out
- Hand wash in cold water with mild wool detergent
- Roll in a towel to remove excess moisture
- Lay flat to dry (never hang wet knits)
- Do not tumble dry or bleach
- Use a cool iron if needed
- Always store folded, never on a hanger
How can I manage pilling over time?
To manage pilling (a natural process in wool), we recommend carefully cutting pills with scissors rather than using a fabric shaver. This protects the surrounding fibres and can reduce future pilling. Grab your scissors, put on a show, and enjoy the satisfaction that comes with taking care of the things you cherish.
Is It Itchy?
Wool comfort can be personal. I can wear our knitwear right next to my skin without any issues, but everyone’s different. If you’re sensitive, try wearing a soft base layer underneath; it’ll also help extend the life of the garment. I also design with alpaca wool for those needing a softer touch.
How do I compost my sweater at the end of its life?
- Cut it into small pieces
- Add to your home compost pile or throw it in your green bin.
Who is the inspiration behind the name of your company?
Marty Lynn is named after my beloved mother, who taught me to sew and shared her love of crafting. I have fond memories of going to the fabric store with her, picking out patterns, and working on projects together. I remember playing in her craft room, sewing scraps of fabric into unique outfits. Those memories have stayed with me and are at the heart of this journey. After her passing in 2017, I knew her spirit had to be part of this brand, which is why I named it in her honour.
